PRESS: Yandex to help central bank see fincl services' geography
MOSCOW, Aug 3 (PRIME) -- Russian Internet company Yandex will help the central bank that wants to draw a unified map with locations of points of access to financial services on the base of Yandex.Maps, business daily Vedomosti reported on Tuesday on its website.
The regulator’s intention to launch the map on the base “of one of the leading Russian cartographic services” is mentioned in the central bank’s report on development of the financial sector by 2024, but a regulator representative declined to name the service.
In March, the central bank held a tender for development of the service and signed a contract with Yandex, but the deal was invalidated because there was only one bidder. Yandex.Maps’ main competitor, 2GIS, controlled by Sberbank, did not participate.
It will not be a separate map, but the central bank’s data on the financial institutions will be added to Yandex.Maps, the service’s representative said.
The central bank receives information on location and work of the points of access to financial services regularly, and the data will be integrated into a desktop and mobile version of the cartographic service with a branded section, the regulator’s representative told the daily.
